Es la verdadera historia de
sus abuelos y cómo se conocieron. Su abuela era católica y de Irlanda del Sur,
mientras que su abuelo era protestante de Irlanda del Norte.
William estudió y practicó odontología en Londres. Fue allí que conoció a una enfermera en el hospital de Londres, Anne Mulligan, y se casó con ella en 1951. Una linda historia de amor durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
